CLIENT: DBS BANK
EVENT: DBS “I REMEMBER BROADWAY” GALA DINNER THEATRE
The Events Artery produced DBS Bank’s largest annual staff dinner to date – with 7000 attendees – sparked off by a challenge that the DBS Rec Club brought to us to creatively interpret a Broadway theme and give it an Asian twist.
Underlying this challenge was the business objective to bind intra-organizational ties and celebrate team achievements within the DBS family.
We had to design an experience that would differentiate us from our competitors and bring fresh perspectives to a theme So we struck out differently by producing a full-length, original musical – “I Remember Broadway”. To involve the audience over a long campaign, we recruited DBS staff volunteers for training and grooming to dance and sing in every act of the show.
We roped in renowned & award winning veteran of the music industry – Clement Chow, who worked on the project as our Song Writer and Musical Director. Together with a team of show directors, scriptwriters, dance choreographer, production manager and stage & technical manager, we embarked on a 3 month production journey.
TEA’s team of designers worked on creating all the visuals required, from publicity materials such as a microsite, web & phone banners, and eDMs to set design. We also created a photo shoot for the top management of DBS to create customised Broadway Posters for the event.
30 talented DBS staff were trained by our show directors and choreographers. The full ensemble of actors and dancers were 50-strong, including TV personalities Koh Chieng Mun (Under One Roof) and Suhaimi Yusoff (The Noose) and theatre veterans Andrew Lua, Tushar Ismail and John Cheah. DBS Senior Management gave us full support joining us for a photoshoot and performed the opening act of the musical.
This mega production sprawled over three ballrooms at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on level 4 & 5. To stage the musical we created a large LED backdrop measuring 15m in length and 5m in height. Using motion graphics, we were able to change the backdrop setting into 14 different designs throughout the night. We deployed of over 50 AV and live feed engineers, lighting designers, rigging specialists, technicians and operators to manifest our vision.
“The ideas given by The Events Artery (TEA) team were helpful, and helped to shape our final concept of the dinner. TEA exhibited their resourcefulness in assembling a strong team of creative and operational personnel to ensure that each aspect of the event is well taken care of.”
