EVENT: SINGAPORE DESIGN WEEK 2016 & 2017 –
INNOVATION BY DESIGN CONFERENCE
For 2 years in a row, we were the appointed event partner to produce the feature conference of Singapore Design Week – Innovation by Design. This event allowed DesignSingapore Council to leverage on Singapore’s fame as a UNESCO Creative City of Design to unite designers, business owners and the public sector and deep dive into the transformative power and game-changing ability of design as a business strategy.
2016 saw 500 attendees at the Drama Centre to hear from 18 speakers, including keynotes Mr Masaaki Kanai, CEO of MUJI and famed Spanish industrial designer Jamie Hayon. The “Design” breakout track showcased award-winning local talent – Kult3D, Phunk Studio, MOD – across different design disciplines while the “Innovation” track brought together business leaders of successful, design-led enterprises – Zalora, Adler Hostel, Ethan K, Grab Taxi – to share their design innovations across data, product and organization-driven processes.
The event grew in size and profile in 2017, with 1490 visitors, increased breakout tracks and 36 leaders across diverse industries and from global companies – Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo and the Ford Motor Company. We also managed the event formalities, including the media announcement of a new partnership between DesignSingapore Council and international media giant Time Inc.
